Destiny 2: Season of the Witch - Final "Imbaru Engine" Puzzle

Since its initial release in 2014, I've been a fan of the Destiny franchise. It's been one of the few games that I've played consistently over the past decade. Not gonna lie, I enjoy it. It's got snappy gun-play, fun challenges and raids to do with friends. But I think what stands out to me the most about Destiny has been the community puzzles and secret missions. And, boy, there have been some doozies over the years! And the finale of the most recent Season of the Witch did not disappoint. After acquiring the final opaque card, a new area unlocks in the Imbaru Engine where one final puzzle awaits.

Making your way to the final room, you are greeted with following hive runes adoring the walls:

…and not much to go on, aside from that. So, lets get cracking!

The Process

After picking up "The Truth" and the "Lie" buffs, you can interact with the four hive statues around the room. Your goal is to find out which runes are triangles, and which are circles. There are a total of 16 runes. In each puzzle room, there are four statues. Once a statue has been activated, three runes will highlight, showing either a circle or a triangle symbol. However, each set-of-three hints includes two-lies and one-truth. Meaning, two of those "hints" are wrong and one is correct.

Finale Room and Portal Puzzle Room

I decided to work from top-to-bottom, starting in the final-puzzle room. Once activating each statue, I worked backwards, back down the engine. The next stop was the portal puzzle room…

The Knight/thrall Puzzle Room and the Chest Puzzle Room

From there, taking the portal back down one level to the Knight/Thrall Puzzle Room. And finally, all the way back down to the Chest Puzzle Room at the start…

Solution

Once you have all the symbols for each room, you can correlate them together to determine which hints were the truth, and which were lies. All symbols are accounted for in the final solution and you need to activate only the triangle runes—matching the triangle symbol on the podium—to pass the final test.

And, voilà! The final secret of the season is unlocked, along with a cutscene setting up the last season of this year! Congratulations!
